Job Duties:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Residence Life - Facilities, this position is responsible for the operation and repair of all mechanical and HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) equipment in a group of buildings with a high level of independence and self-initiation. This position is responsible for reexamining our HVAC standards, practices and usages in Residence Life buildings, trouble shooting of building mechanical problems, identifying, correcting, reporting and communicating building operational and maintenance needs to other trades and units, performing repairs on equipment, performing scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance on equipment and ensuring satisfactory operation of building systems to meet the programmatic and energy conservation needs and objectives of the buildings.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively with students, the general public, and all UW-Whitewater staff.
Knowledge of proper tools and procedures to be used for troubleshooting, maintenance, modifications, repairs, and preventive maintenance of valve operators, damper operators, solenoids, motors, thermostats, compressors, heating and cooling systems, etc.
Skilled in maintaining, reviewing and rebuilding pneumatic compressors, air-handling systems, refrigeration, and air conditioning units, etc.
Skilled in testing safety controls, greasing systems, tightening and replacing belts.
Ability to calibrate thermostats and adjust air dampers.
Knowledge of calibrating pneumatic and electrical controls.
Ability to read computer print outs and formulate a solution.
Ability to diagnose and repair H.V.A.C. and/or refrigeration systems to determine system malfunctions.
Skilled in interpreting blueprints and complex schematic diagrams to devise proper repairs or adjustments to systems.
Must possess a State of Wisconsin (D.O.C.) Refrigerant Handling Technician Certification
Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and qualify for state vehicle operation.
Must be willing to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
This position in designated at Level 1 risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
This position serves on the Emergency On-Call system.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
